A St. Paul teen has been charged with the murder of an ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
Phillipe Eugene Elphage,19, was charged with second-degree murder for stabbing Darius Derrick Maxwell to death on Jan. 30.
"This case is particularly disturbing because of the violence and because it happened in violation of a court Order for Protection. The assailant repeated stabbed an unarmed man in front of his former girlfriend," County Attorney Susan Gaertner said.
According to police, Elphrage broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and repeatedly stabbed Maxwell. Authorities say Maxwell later died at Regions Hospital from his injuries.
Elphrage will make a first appearance in Ramsey County District Court today.
