U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann canceled an in-person Missouri campaign appearance for a U.S. Senate candidate after being hospitalized.
Bachmann spokesman Dave Dziok told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that she was hospitalized most of Friday and that doctors advised her to rest. He declined to reveal the nature of her illness.
A statement on her website Friday said the Republican was resting and expects a quick recovery.
The illness kept her from traveling Saturday to St. Louis, where she is backing Roy Blunt, a U.S. House member running in the GOP primary for the U.S. Senate. But Blunt's spokesman Rich Chrismer says Bachmann addressed volunteers via video conferencing.
Bachmann missed several votes on the Gulf Oil spill just before the U.S. House adjourned for an August recess.
